Check what you most identify with.

Gnana yoga is practiced when you want to reach your ultimate nature by employing your intelligence. Gnana yogi cannot afford to identify themselves with anything. This exercise will test you to determine what you really identify with. When you are identified with something, it’s like a train that cannot be stopped. However, if you disentangle yourself from everything that you are not, you will see that your mind turns blank and empty. This is how it should be.


  1. Sit with yourself for an hour.
    No television, no phones, no communication, nothing.
  2. Notice what thoughts dominate your mind.
    Is it sex, food, your car, your furniture, or something else? If you think about things or people, your identification is with your body. If you think about what you would like to do in the world, your identification is with your mind. Everything else is somewhere in between these two aspects. This is an indicator of your stage in life.
