Capture what truly matters

Instructions

  1. Define your favorite problems.
Write down the questions that pique your interest, curiosity, and creativity. If you can't define them, ask your family to tell you what you were preoccupied with when you were little.

  2. Capture possible solutions in a notetaking app.
Capture only the information and ideas that are relevant to your favorite problems. When you come across relevant information, save it in a notetaking app.

  3. Extract what is essential from captured notes.
Usually, only 10% of the material is essential. So, extract about 10% of the material you’ve captured in the previous step.

  4. Distinguish the important from the unimportant.
If you are unsure what 10% of the material you should keep, find out what you should not keep instead. Evaluate your notes by answering the following questions: Does this information inspire me? Is it useful for me? Is it personal? Is it surprising, new, or something I haven't saved before?
