Build your consciousness and become more self-aware

from How to Do the Work: Recognize Your Patterns, Heal from Your Past, and Create Your Self by Nicole LePera

How to Apply This

  1. Spend at least 2 minutes of your day focusing on what you are doing.
You can do this while you are doing the dishes, folding laundry, or looking at the clouds. Say to yourself, “I am in this present moment.”

  2. Ground yourself in the moment.
For example, let’s say you want to practice grounding while doing the dishes. Feel the soap on your hands. Look at the soap bubbles on your hands; feel the slickness of the dishes in the sink; smell the scent of the air.

  3. After doing this exercise, acknowledge that you gave yourself this time.
This will allow your mind and body to efficiently absorb how active consciousness feels. Additionally, take a moment to thank yourself for the time you took to do the work.
