Build Trust—And Value—With Consistent Expectations

Instructions

  1. Review promises (explicit or implied) made by your team or organization. What have you and your colleagues committed to customers, investors, or each other? List both verbal and contractual commitments.

  2. Assess your track record for delivering on these promises. Are you usually on time and accurate? Where have you overpromised or failed to deliver?

  3. Communicate changes early and clearly. If something threatens your ability to deliver, notify stakeholders promptly and set realistic revised expectations.
