  1. Make the significant people in your life your priority
    For example, find time to focus on your husband so you can understand his needs even if you are already putting in a lot to take care of your kids or to remodel your home.

  2. Identify the main goals of the relationship.
    For example, do you want to be in your relationship to acquire things, accomplish a task or build intimacy?

  3. Appreciate the moments you connect with others on an emotional level.
    For example, pay attention to expressions of happiness, excitement, sadness, and disappointment. Respond with words, expressions, or gestures that show you understand what the other party is going through. This provides a bridge for emotional connection and also paves the way for a more meaningful relationship.
