Become a lifelong learner

Instructions

  1. Seek timeless lessons
Evaluate every lesson you learn: does it inspire you to make your own decisions, or does it influence you? Timeless lessons are those that inspire you to take action, that are applicable to everybody, no matter age or situation.

  2. Construct a learning environment for yourself
Look for a job in an organization with a learning culture. Take all the opportunities to learn and relearn everything in your field. Aim to get a little bit more efficient every day.

  3. Master the art of deep learning
When you’re learning something new, learn the foundational aspects first. Then, connect everything you learn to something you already know to remember it better - for example, connect a new name to someone familiar. Teach others what you have learned, it will help you to remember what you’ve learned for a longer time too.

  4. Track your progress with a growth journal
Every evening, ask yourself these questions and write the answers down:
     - What did I learn today?
     - What did I love about today?
     - Have I managed to achieve my goals today?
     - What would I like to learn tomorrow?
    - What am I thankful for?

  5. Prepare yourself for both opportunities and challenges
Let go of past failures and overcome the self-limiting beliefs you hold (Pike syndrome). Visualize what would happen to you if your dreams don’t come true - how would you move on? Reflect on the consequences of failing - this will push you to put in more effort.
