Be a leader who inspires collaboration

Instructions

  1. Create the foundation for your team by defining why, how, and what you do
A shared belief in the same vision (why), a disciplined commitment to supporting it (how), and a tangible way to display it (what). These three factors will unite your team in a feeling of belonging and empowerment.

  2. Practice Hō-Ren-Sō: transparency, teamwork, and trust
Encourage negative and positive news to be openly reported, and give constructive and immediate feedback. Share your knowledge and experience to help others grow. Practice active listening and ask for help or advice when you need it.

  3. Compliment others more!
Compliments are about helping the other person be seen and acknowledged. Compliment others even on the small things - it will motivate them to keep doing better each time.

  4. Add some fun to your workplace
You could add fun reminders to your calendar (weekday happy hours for example), make a habit of chatting to the colleagues you don’t know as well, and remind yourself to laugh and relax more often. The team that has fun together stays together!

  5. Embrace technologies that can help foster collaboration
Technology can open communication channels and help you collaborate at a much larger scale.
