Adopt Stoic practices in every area of life

Instructions

  1. Change your life goals.
Changing your goals is crucial if you want to follow the Stoic philosophy. Goals like fame and wealth are outside your control and don’t make you happy because they are external. Instead, you should focus on internal goals you have complete control over. You will be much happier by removing external material goals and focusing on more attainable internal goals.

  2. Practice a Stoic mindset.
Practice performing negative visualization, accepting your fate as it comes, self-denial, Stoic meditation, and the proper way of responding to insults.

  3. Don’t tell anybody you follow the Stoic philosophy in the first few stages.
If you tell people you follow the Stoic philosophy, you may be met with confusion or even mockery. This can derail your efforts early on, so it is best not to tell anyone. Simply start following the practices and see how they change your life. When you are happy and more confident in your new life, you can tell people about it without their criticism knocking you off your path.

  4. Constantly challenge yourself.
You should always challenge yourself no matter how long you have been following Stoic principles. This is the purpose of the meditation sessions. Always look for ways to be more tranquil and to better express Stoic principles.
