Remove obstacles from your path.
from Essentialism: The Disciplined Pursuit of Less by Greg McKeown
Of all the obstacles you might face, there will be one that, when removed, will also eliminate several other obstacles. Once you identify and remove it, your task will become much easier.
How to Apply This
-
Be clear on your desired outcome.
Identify a precise outcome for your goals and think about how you will know when you achieve it. -
Identify the obstacle that, if removed, would make the most other obstacles disappear.
Start by making a list of all the obstacles you face, then look through them to identify the main obstacle. -
Remove that obstacle.
For example, if the main obstacle is your boss not giving you the green light, meet with them in person and ask, “What obstacles or blockages are holding you back from achieving X, and how can I help remove them?” Similarly, figure out a way to remove any other obstacles in your path.
