Use the Pointing-and-Calling method to raise your level of awareness of unconscious habits.

This method is used by industries where mistakes may cause serious accidents. Just pointing and calling increases awareness of unconscious activity to a more conscious level.


  1. Point to things and call them out.
    For example, when you leave the house, say, “I have a wallet, I have keys, I have my husband.”
  2. When you are about to do something, call out the activity and what the outcome will be.
    For example, “I’m about to eat this cookie, but I don’t need it. Eating it will cause me to gain weight and hurt my health.”
